Motivational Interviewing Skills for Coaches (MISC)
This Institute for Education Sciences (IES) development project involves the development and study of the Motivational Interviewing Skills for Coaches (MISC) professional development platform under the Social and Behavioral Outcomes to Support Learning topic area.
The purpose of this project is to create a training platform, called Motivational Interviewing Skills for Coaches (MISC), to equip instructional personnel with the interpersonal skills necessary to more effectively engage teachers in the coaching process, improve teacher implementation of evidence-based classroom behavior management strategies, and influence student outcomes.
Herein, we propose to do this by (a) creating a fully-developed version of the MISC via an iterative development process; (b) investigating the usability, feasibility, and fidelity of implementation of the MISC; and (c) examining the promise of the MISC to influence immediate, intermediate, and long-range outcomes associated with the coaching logic model.
